Easy Spelt Pizza Dough (recipe in English on OPSD blog). Pizza marinara is a traditional Italian pizza with tomatoes, garlic, oregano and oil. Try my recipe with whole wheat and spelt flour: a light and savory alternative to the usual pizza. And it is easy and quick to make!

TIPO DI RICETTA: Pizza
CUCINA: Italian
PORZIONI: 4
INGREDIENTI
  • For the base
  • 300 g of whole wheat flour
  • 100 g of spelt flour
  • 350 ml of lukewarm water
  • 2 g of dehydrated baker’s yeast
  • 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • 5 g of salt
  • For the garnish
  • 400 g of finely chopped tomatoes (or, as an alternative, tomato puree)
  • some cloves of garlic
  • salt
  • dehydrated oregano
COME PROCEDERE
  1. In a large bowl, sift together the flours, the baker’s yeast, the oil, the honey and the salt. Gradually add the water and, using a fork, stir well to combine.
  2. Transfer the dough to a flour-dusted pastry board and knead for some minutes until it is smooth and homogeneous.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl. Cover with a damp rag, or cling film, and let it rise at room temperature for at least 2 hours.
  4. Take back the dough, knead it for some minutes on the flour-dusted pastry board and roll it into a rough circle.
  5. Preheat the oven to 230°C.
  6. Cover a baking sheet with baking paper and then transfer the pizza dough to it.
  7. Garnish with the finely chopped tomatoes (or the tomato puree), a pinch of salt, a dash of oregano and the unpeeled cloves of garlic, crushed (if you prefer, you can peel the garlic and cut it into thin slices).
  8. Bake for about 12/15 minutes.
  9. Before serving, drizzle with oil and remove the unpeeled garlic.
  10. Enjoy!
